You didn't answer Kent's second question about AD publishing. Is this client domain joined to the same or same forest as the secondary site? What type of boundaries are you using? Here is what actually went wrong. The client agents were still present on machines and had no way to contact Management Point. After few days he created another VM and installed Configuration Manager I noticed that client agents were unable to discover the site code.
I did a basic audit of SCCM setup and it was all good. I also upgraded the SCCM version to So the actual issue was that a large number of SCCM clients were failing to report to the primary site. As part of the troubleshooting this, I picked an existing machine and initiated client push install. The installation went fine but checking the client properties showed something like this.
Most of all there was no entry of assigned management point. You can see that under client properties there is not much of information as we normally see. Clicking the Components tab showed most of the components as Installed however the CCM notification agent status was Disabled. Now comes the most interesting part which is checking the log files on the client machine. You can refer all the SCCM log files for troubleshooting purpose here.
There was just one error logged several times — RegTask: Failed to refresh site code. Error: 0xffff. I opened the LocationServices. Here I noticed many errors and these errors are listed below. A newly installed client that uses automatic site assignment joins the assigned site of a boundary group that contains the client's current network location. Attached is a screen shot of the computer that I manually install the client on.
When you update the site, repeat this procedure to update the client. After assigning to a site, a client doesn't change its site assignment when it changes its network location. The software update for the Configuration Manager client isn't automatically updated when there's a new version. Delete - Registry. To control which servers a client can find, add individual software update points to different boundary groups.
