Cannot load the hive file systemroot system32 config security
Did I mention the laptop is less then two weeks old? To do it manually within UBCD4Win you just need to back up then delete the 5 hives or as many as are still there and then copy and rename the 5 hives from the second to last restore point which is what I imagine this tool is doing automatically.
Every time i think this site is awesome, you guys prove me wrong. This site is more than awesome. Does that only work if they have restore point enabled? What if it is disabled would you be able to restore the registry? Or does that even matter? I have a better technique which involves repairing the registry hive in only a couple of minutes. I do like the look of this Registry Restore Wizard though, it saves the effort of hunting through the System Volume Information directory manually and renaming the files in there.
In my experience it is usually indicative of a failing hard drive, or at least file system corruption for some other reason that should be repaired first…. Again, this is usually due to a failing hard drive causing bad sectors, which is the case in the vast majority of my experiences.
Typically I will repair the drive with a factory diagnostic if applicable, clone the drive to a new one if applicable, replace all 5 registry hives with a recent backup no matter which was corrupted, and use a program I wrote which runs chkdsk until no errors remain. You can write this with a simple batch file as well, if chkdsk returns any errorlevel other than zero, re-run it. Naturally you will want to do the chkdsk part from your WinPE based boot CD, laptop, or tech bench system you are using to swap the registry hives.
Microsoft has officially documented the registry hive swap with a ton of unneeded steps starting with a parallel windows installation of course, but curiously with running system restore from safe mode AFTER swapping the hives. HOW do I do that?? Down loaded the fix program and it gives me a runtime error. Any help would be appreciated. Looks like a great program. I built the CD, the troubled computer loaded it, with splashscreen , then asks for network connection.
Neither the keyboard nor mouse functions. What do I do? I made a tool to automate restoring an old registry snapshots to replace a corrupted registry hive. It saves you the time of typing all the commands or dragging and dropping. In my case I did it using win2k and it works. Theres several different ways to fix this problem.
Theres a good description of how to do this repair step by step. Its simple compared to the Microsoft way. If this fix doesnt work there are others there too. Hope this helps. I found this forum quite usefull and the link to the microsoft page that showed how to correct a corrupted registry was also good, but…..
The corruption could be caused by bad sectors on your hard disk. In my case I carry my laptop all over the house while it is on and occasionally it gets bumped. It might take 30 minutes to an hour to run depending on the size of your hard disk.
In my case it took about 45 minutes and fixed 1 or more corrupted sectors and I was able to recover and boot back to where the system crashed last night. I had the problem 2 days ago right after performing a WinUpdate and installing new SP for. Good surprise! Obtain a copy of ubuntu 7. Open the disk on the ubuntu desktop, and copy to a portable disk on a USB port 7. Worked for me! Hi when i install odbc. Put Windows XP disc into your drive 2. Press R when you will have options to choose 3.
When the console turns on press 1 1: C: your installation folder 4. Insert your system password if none just press Enter 5. Waiting is a bullshit, when the additional checking shows reset your PC 7. Remove your Windows XP disc 8. Just enjoy your working Windows XP. I have the same problem and i need to know how to fix it. But i do have one advice to give you all. To make the error message stay until you hit the power button, you press F8 rapidly when the computer first starts up and it will go to the Advanced Startup Option, but you want it to view the whole set of options.
Should I use the same tricks as proposed here or do I have a serious problem working on an OEM version? And ohyeah: who should I sue for this? I was working on both my thesis and an essay and now this! Than, the machine made an check disk and other automatic stufs. Than it restarted just fine! As the system did checked the disk it did say I still might have a corrupted file. Now on the corrupted hard drive navigate to the same folder and delete the two files.
Now copy and paste the two files from the desktop into the folder replacing the ones that were there and it will now work so put the computers back together.
So how did u resolve it. Coz I am currently experiencing the same thing. All files can copy except the software. Even tried to check it on DIR cannot see it. Please help. Your email address will not be published. I too am having same problem.. I recorded it with camera just like above.. How do you fix??? No system recovery or boot fix works on this error, anyone have a solution? PLease if some one know spanish, is better for me!!
Thank you. I hope this helps Brahm. I hope this is of some use to somebody. All in all, a complete pain in the ass with no permanent repurcussions. Good Luck. It will now attempt to load Windows XP using a past set of configuration files. You will now be presented with a screen similar to good old DOS. First, we will recover the System Hive. Now, type in the following commands with pressing Enter after each line. Also, change the C in the commands to whatever your Windows XP drive letter is.
This worked for me. Click on the KB Article Link and follow the directions. Hope this help! Ok, to bring up an oldish problem. Is there any way to solve this without rebooting?
You could try the following It worked for me. Let me just run over how we arrived at the solution again. On checking, the bios f3 on boot up was set up to go to hard disk, then the cdrom for boot up.
The CD was removed and a reboot executed and XP booted without problem. Good luck all. All files and software still intact! I have tried all the ways that have been listed. Is there a way to fix this without the disc. I cannot get the computer past the Windows XP display before it goes blue. It is a systemax original computer, but I have since rebuilt it myself with new motherboard, hard drive, cdrom, dvdrom, ram, fans, cpu etc I just got a new monitor and hooked it up and the blue screen of death showed up after I turned the computer back on.
I have been trying to fix this for 4 days now. Was this reply helpful? Yes No.
